Coding Parts — all five packaging variants overview
01

Project Overview

This packaging project was developed for a multi-part coding system that included distributors, power supplies, and other installation components. Because many packages shared similar sizes and structures, installers often selected the wrong part on site — leading to delays, repeated trips, and reinstallation work.

The packaging system was redesigned to improve rapid recognition, clear differentiation between parts, and better guidance during installation. It was conceived not only for branding and retail presentation, but to reduce errors and support speed, clarity, and confidence during on-site work.

"The packaging turned into both a recognition tool and a practical reference during installation — the box bottom doubling as a quick-access wiring guide."

Design Response

To reduce confusion, a simple colour-coded edge system was introduced using narrow coloured lines — red, blue, yellow, green — to distinguish different product types at a glance. The box bottoms were used to display key installation connection diagrams, so installers could quickly access guidance without searching for the manual.

Tool 01
Colour-Coded Edge Lines
A thin coloured stripe runs along the box edge — distinct per product type. Scannable from a distance, readable in a crowded van, identifiable on a shelf without reading a word of text.
Tool 02
Box Base as Installation Guide
The base panel carries wiring diagrams and connection schemas — printed at the point of least damage and most use. The box stays with the installer while the work is done.
Tool 03
Large Product Photography
Each box face shows a large, clear photograph of the component inside. On a cluttered site, seeing the hardware immediately confirms the correct part before opening.
Tool 04
Consistent System Identity
All five packaging variants share the black dot-pattern base, Electropeyk logo placement, and green type for product names — unified system, fast individual recognition.

System Coherence

Across all five packaging variants, the shared visual language holds: the dark dot-textured base, the ELECTROPEYK logotype treatment, the green product name typography, and the large component photography on the primary face. What changes is the coloured stripe — the one signal an installer needs at arm's length in a storage van or on a wall of similar boxes.

The bottom of each box carries the system wiring diagram specific to that component — its installation context printed where it will actually be read, during the job, not before it.

"Packaging as field tool: the box that comes with the part also tells you how to install it."
